Saturday Morning Ramblings

The back wall with the plastic sheeting and drainage tubing.

Considering the weather, I feel like this was a successful week at the farm.  I got sheets of plastic and a drainage tube run along the back wall to stop the flooding that happens with every heavy rain.  Hopefully, the adhesive will hold long-term.  I also got most of the roof swept off so I can get the gutter cleaned out, which should alleviate much of the water flow in the back.  Next, we’ll also seal the inside of the back wall with masonry sealant that should keep it completely dry inside.  I also got most of the materials inside moved to one corner so that we can begin repairing the front wall, so overall it was a productive week.  My body is pretty beaten and battered, but it’s a good kind of sore.  I’m proud of all I got done.

Thursday Night Ramblings

The rain has really kicked my butt these last two days, but I’ve still managed to make quite a bit of progress.  Tomorrow, if the weather cooperates, I’ll hopefully get the back wall sealed off to stop the water from coming in.  If I can make that goal, I’ll feel like this week has been very successful, considering the weather.  Obviously, I haven’t gotten as much brush cleared as I would’ve liked, but if it doesn’t rain for a couple of days, I can get finished with it.  I’ll try to post some new pics soon to show my progress.  Check back soon.

Wednesday Morning Ramblings

Here are some pics of what I’m working on out at the farm.  I’m clearing 16 years of brush from around the building, most of it honeysuckle, briers, and locust trees.  In other words, I spent most of yesterday untangling from thorns.  Once the area around the building is clear, we’ll start on the interior.  Obviously, with the rain today, I won’t get to do much, but I’m still gonna try to get a little done.
