Monday Morning Ramblings

Slowly but surely I’m on the mend.  All that’s left are some very tender, very painful sores in my mouth.  The pain has been nearly unbearable for the last couple of days, but today, it’s eased off just a little.  I haven’t eaten more than a few bites of solid food in a week, and I’m so hungry I can barely stand myself.  I keep fantasizing about eating a big greasy pizza, even though it’s not good for me.  I have imagined eating the whole thing by myself several times already.  I really, really, really, really need some food in my body.

I get the boys on Wednesday, so I’m hopeful that this will be gone by then.  I’m certain that I’m well beyond the contagious stage, but I want to be able to enjoy my time with them.  I’m going this afternoon to get their Christmas gifts, and before you judge me for waiting until the last minute, please read the previous paragraph and keep in mind that I’ve been fighting this crap for nine days.  The idea of fighting the post-Christmas crowd isn’t very appealing, but maybe I can at least get a few good deals.

That’s all for now.  Wherever you are, please eat a bite of something for me.

Wednesday Afternoon Ramblings

Whatever illness this is, it’s wicked and mean.  It started as a sinus infection and then began acting like the flu.  I’ve had a raging headache, fever, a sore throat, joint aches, and pain in my lower back.  Please forgive the grossness of this, but the really odd part is that I’ve also developed terrible sores on my gums and soft palette.  The closest thing I can find that resembles my symptoms is coxsackie virus.  Regardless, it’s really painful and has me flat on my back.  I hope to be better soon, at least before the boys come up, so please send me lots of positive energy.

Hope all of you are hearty and hale and having a good holiday season.

Monday Evening Ramblings

I’m almost finished with grading, just one more section to go.  Despite a wicked sinus infection and a pounding headache, I got a lot done today.  Thank goodness the college recognized the chaos created by the weather situation and extended our grade window to Wednesday morning at 9:00. I couldn’t have gotten done by today.

I’ll write a real post soon, as soon as I’m through this mountain of grading and over this sinus crap.  Something very cool happened on Saturday that I want to share, a major step forward for me.  For now, I’m gonna go curl in a ball and sob uncontrollably from this headache (Not really, but when I even notice a headache, it’s bad).  Hope you have a wonderful night.
